I will be giving a presentation titled, “Optimizing the IT Project Portfolio: Best Practices” at Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) conference, April 4-8, in Chicago.

Description:
Learn how various healthcare organizations, using best practices, are selecting and prioritizing projects, optimizing resource utilization, and managing their IT and enterprise project portfolios using scorecards, dashboards and software.

Objectives:

  • Understand the components of a project portfolio
  • Employ one of three techniques to select and prioritize projects
  • Understand the differences between resource capacity, resource demand, and resource utilization and how to optimize resource usage
  • Review how to monitor the project portfolio using organizational specific dashboards
  • Identify when its time to terminate projects on life support
